PHILLIP LEE MORGAN has taken inspiration from the most familiar American musical traditions and found common ground enough to develop a style wherein genres cross almost inperceptively. On the new album "The Sky & the Road" you will hear Morgan on the electric guitar with powerful rhythm tones and imaginative solos, or finger picking on an acoustic flattop perfectly complimented by Phil Jones' always driving, tastefully innovative drum style and Rick Rosas' fluid, soulful bottom on the electric bass. But it is the telling of stories that is central here, and Morgan has found a thoroughly universal voice in his lyrical style. His search for a personal philosophy is told in layman terms and is expressed in a way that the listener might take it for their own.
